Bored of laminated wine lists that never change, Ian aka “the Innkeeper General” quit the big sommelier gig and is doing it his own way, 10 cases at a time. It’s a simple idea: 10 whites, 10 reds and 10 cases of each… you get it, then when a wine is finished something new is brought in, perfect for keeping BarChick on her drinking toes. Markups are low, service charge is up to you, and they even have a bunch of sample bottles at the bar they give away for free - perfect if ya skint. Plus, they're all served by the glass/carafe and/or bottle! Like the wine, the food is always changing; we ate awesome Neal's Yard cheese, super saussicon and a whole roasted garlic (not hot date friendly).
There's also no pressure to eat a whole meal - drink and nibble at your leisure. Sit outside, hang at the bar, say hi to Annabel and you will be well looked after. Such is their success they’ve now expanded, opening up a cosy and atmospheric bottle shop and bistro next door with an extended wine/food menu, walls stacked with dusty bottles and a totally Parisian vibe. NB. They have an awesome place to have a party downstairs (for up to 16) so if you're looking for a wicked joint to host a birthday party, this is your place.
