Ninetyeight Bar and Lounge

Zebra prints, lavish colorful fittings and Victoriana lend this cocktail bar a fairy tale vibe.

Tucked away down some spiral stairs in the epicenter of Shoreditch is a mad house of fun. It was members only for years, but owner Kath Morrell has clocked that it's much more fun letting everyone in to her crazy crockery clad white world of wonder. Jars full of punchy potions and old school sweets, it's an alchies answer to the Tate. Have a wander, play the piano outside, get married on your lunch-break, or sign up to cocktail classes which are held in the classroom upstairs (it’s amazing). The food is ever changing, and so are the drinks, Kath blends lavender into her gin, and spearmints her Sambuca. This place is a breath of fresh air for this part of town, and you can escape the cool kids and have a bit of an adventure. The back room can be booked, from anything to a private party to life drawing classes. Just remember you've got to get back up that staircase.
