Surprise surprise, BarChick's in the naughty corner again. Welcome to Donovan Bar - a buzzing spot for decadent drinks in Brown's Hotel. You can throw an olive from here and hit The Wolseley and Le Caprice, so it’s just perfect for an aperitif before dinner. Only problem is that half of Mayfair has the same idea, so it can be a bit of a struggle getting a table. We say squeeze in and enjoy the buzz.
Named after Terence Donovan, his photographs make the bar even more crowded with faces, but thankfully they're hot ones. Swinging sixties aside, we're more interested in the booze. There's more rums than Davy Jones’ locker, some classic bottles and a super smart wine list. They pour the fizz at the table, the service is immaculate and the bar snacks are flowing and free! The crowd here can be pretty male-heavy with money oozing from all angles, but whether or not this is your vibes, the cocktails make this bar worthy of your hitlist.
On our last trip, we got involved in the Our Generation menu, created by cocktail-maestro Salvatore Calabrese to pay homage to the famous faces that Terence Donovan photographed. Get sultry with the bright red Madam Loren - this boozy tribute to the Italian bombshell is garnished with fried basil. For ultimate Insta points it has to be the Sparkling Side Of The Moon, which manages to brilliantly recreate the famous Pink Floyd album cover, prism and all. Sipping on sexy drinks inspired by the Swinging Sixties - BarChick was born for it.
