Bobby Gin

BARCHICK SAYS

Gracia’s sun filled squares and narrow streets are filled with all sorts of surprises and Bobby Gin is one of them. The craze of Gin and Tonics is hitting Spain faster than you can say “Jeeeen Tonic” and they’re taking it on and showing us exactly how to roll with a little bit of Spanish kick and a lot more flamboyance. The decor is clever with a bar made of coloured doors, a door made of matched up cupboards and tables made of drawers. You follow? The crowds sips from bulbous, ice filled glasses filled with countless combinations of Gin and Tonics - take a menu and read on son/sista, you’re about to get into your G&Ts whether you like it or not.

The guy behind this place is one of Spain’s much loved and respected bartenders, Albert Pizarro, who definitely knows a thing or two about drinking/serving and has a worldwide rep for his talent. The menu is a like a class on gin in itself; floral, herbal, citric, balanced and with over 60+ Gins you’ve got yourself some choice right there, but if it’s all too much the bartenders are on hand to help. We went for the Gin Folk, invented here it’s a gin infused with olive leaf, hibiscus, basil, Chartreuse, lime, bitter lemon and Britvic tonic and had a “Haymans GinFolk”.

Bobby who? We didn’t know either but it’s all explained in the menu and Bobby was a lad and the homage to him on the back wall “God Save The Gin” pretty much sums him up.
