Brass Monkey

BARCHICK SAYS

An unnamed bar in a shady part of town is not the most inviting of venues, but man up and take our word for it, this place is wicked. Say hi to any hookers lingering on the street, and look through the door for a monkey (brass one obvs) and then you’ll know you’ve arrived at the right place.

Brass Monkey, is tiki-tastic and done well, unlike so many tiki themed bars. Dudes with surfer styles and hot chicks in short shorts are manning the bar under thatched beach hut roofing. You feel like you’ve just stumbled across a secret Hawaiian beach bar at night, only for some reason everyone is speaking in Danish.

Caspa and Thomas are the owners here, with Andreas as manager, they’ll all look after you. Caspa lends his hands in the kitchen where they serve some awesome munch (get the coconut shrimp, you won’t be disappointed!).

Drinks come in the usual tiki mug, which you can buy and not steal. The cocktails are pretty punchy, and their names sound like 90s wrestlers. Have a Hurricane if you fancy something punchy, and get in the Fortune Fireballs, although not for the faint hearted.
