Fade Street Social

BARCHICK SAYS

Ignore the ground floor restaurant at Fade Street Social and climb the stairs up to the New York loft-style bar. Bricks make up the walls, wooden boards the floor and slices of tree trunks the tables.

The bar is on your left, with a weekly special cocktail scrawled above it. It’s mirrored, well stocked and the guys behind it like getting creative by infusing foam with alcohol and other tricks. BarChick, feeling a little fragile, settled for a Soothe The Beast with elderflower, lavender bitters, gin and citrus juices and it got her right back into the swing of things.

Snuggle into a sofa, or perch on an animal print stool by candlelight, whatever you do make sure you venture out to the Winter Garden because it’s the best rooftop in town, fact. Heated like a tropical garden, watched over by a giant Buddha baby and served by cocktails (and flatbreads if you’re peckish) it is the ultimate place to escape the city (especially for all you smokers out there).

If you want something a little more substantial, the restaurant downstairs is well worth booking into, and if you’re a fan of soft-shell crab then it’s more than worth it. Just make sure you head back upstairs after because the DJ gets the party started most evenings.
