Barchick Says
Former Ministry of Defense government building turned hotel? Check. An epic bar that I cannot fault? Check. The Corinthia is the new palatial hotel just opened near Embankment, and there ain’t no sign of any boring government business here any more. It’s gone all glitz, shiny n glamour, think Puff Daddy’s crib styles: crystal chandeliers, marble floors and Champagne trollies.
Influenced by music, it’s got both jazzy décor and live music, plus the bar is made from a long piano. That said, you can’t hang out there, it’s all table service. If it’s cold go hang by the fire, there are few places you’d rather be.
Tequila head? Try the signature smoked twist on a Margarita (yes it is Cigar-infused Agave Nectar, Absinthe and salt foam). If not then get in some homemade alco-sodas (Lavender and Lemon was epic). There is food, but eat BarChick style, and have one of their food cocktails, little nibbles in martini glasses, yes please.
Like most hotel bars, the prices are steep but they do make up for some of it with their little touches – antique glassware, four types of bar snacks, glass swizzle-sticks and leather monogrammed coasters, so get out the gold card and party like Puffy (and that means getting a suite).
