Barchick Says
Bourne & Hollingsworth is not the easiest of bars to find, but that’s probably the point.
Pour yourself down the stairs (taking extra care if – like BarChick – you were pissed and wearing heels). Inside? Well imagine your Grandmother is a kick ass DJ, and serves amazing cocktails in her sitting room, then you’ll know what to expect. The drinks are even served in things you’d find in your nan’s cupboards: mine came in a teacup, with a cucumber sandwich, and my date’s in a jam jar with some shortbread, retro centrale. If you’re too macho to drink from a tea cup, then there’s Asahi on tap.
The crowd is fun, friendly, and funky on the weekends, and if you go on Prohibition Party, aka Blitz night then you’ll find everyone dressed in their 1920′s kit. Deano the owner is usually around and knows how to have a good time.
This post-war chic venue is small, but perfectly formed, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
