Barchick Says
What used to be an old French hospital is now one of the most charming, understated hotels in a seriously good location. The restaurant and bar sit closely together and equally give off the same laid back, smooth talking character. Slide along the shiny, silver bar and take a seat, or if it’s warm out there’s always the pavement seating under the pretty French style awning. The decor is very “Firmdale” and we loved the caricature pictures – spot the naughtiness. Out of all the hotels this has the highest room rates so you can count on there being the odd celeb hiding behind the thick heavy curtained windows!
This is a great place for your afternoon tea, take your pick from the Champagne list and follow it up with some cocktails. On the menu they have all the signature favourites from the other hotels, but our favourite was the Fig Caipirinha – muddled fig with limes wedges mixed with Orgeat, fig liquor, Peychaud’s Bitters and Beija Flor Cachaca. Get your timing right like BarChick did and they give out free mini homemade ice-creams at certain times of the day… how very civilised.
