So chicken is the new black, with The Tramshed leading the way and Chicken Shop just behind, there’s competition from this new bird in town – Chooks. While Chicken Shop is all sexy lighting and basement vibes, this one is trying to be a little bit more hip (or thigh).  Slide into a banquette and take in the exposed brickwork, cool graffiti, neon signs and reclaimed timber. The grilled chicken is the master of proceedings here, so the simple settings far from steal the limelight.

Straight from a Suffolk farm to your plate, these guys know how to serve it. Choose from a quarter, half or whole and select your marinade. We went for the super spicy buffalo, because we like our chicks hot, obvs. Accompany it with things like mac n’ cheese, fries or dirty rice. Do do the inferno wing challenge – that’s eight wings in special spicy sauce made with ghost chilies (the hottest in the world) and five minutes to consume the lot (if successful you will be rewarded).

Drink frozen jam jar Margaritas (do it), craft beers, fizz from Chapel Down in Kent and wine from Gascon.
