Barchick Says
This is where the magic happens, or so the sign says. It’s very Meat Packing District; all white tiles, dangling bulbs, wooden slabs for tables, neon lighting pipes and a nice BIG industrial bar.
Drinks here are simple; either go for one of their beers, a shot of whiskey, or whack ‘em together and have a nice Boiler Maker (we liked the Dark Star served with Woodford Reserve) or splash out on one of their D&S Juleps… heaven. Their selection of whiskey is where it’s at, they’re all out on display to the side of the bar so go have a gander and take your pick. Not fancying any of that? Get one of their “good wines”… yeah, that’s all you’re getting, choose from “good white” “good red” or “good rose”, we’re sure they ain’t lying.
The food here is big and meaty, so don’t be bringing your vegan cousin, plus the big roll of kitchen towel on each table warns you things are gonna be getting messy, tuck in, no one’s judging. With 4 types of hot dog, a burger and 3 sliders on offer for main it’s hard to know which to choose. The Banger stood out, with coarse pork shoulder, onions and mushroom ketchup, but if you fancy keeping true to the usual flex then the Hot Dog won’t disappoint, spiced pig, BBQ sauce and compressed chilli tomato… done.
Team up the mains with some serious sides, they’re all great, but the two things you’ve gotta have are the frickles (fried pickles) and the salt beef chilli. BUFF.
Food service is between 12pm – 2:30pm, and then 5:30pm – 10:30pm.
