House of Tippler

BARCHICK SAYS

East Dulwich has upped the stakes with the arrival of drinks industry aficionado Tim Oakley's cocktail hangout - House of Tippler.  We're talking vintage Motown American vibes, skulls on walls, live jamming sessions and, best of all, totally epic cocktails.  This 'neighbourhood bar' is the kind we would like to have lurking in ours.

The old skool cocktail list has been given a 21st Century pimp up with the classic Manhattan welcoming in a dash of cardamom bitters and arriving in a minature jug on ice to keep it at optimum temperature.  Genius.  Be sure to ask for Tim behind the bar - he's the kinda guy you'll want to mix up your stiff drink.

What's a cocktail hour without some mouth-watering bar snacks?  To appease the Dulwich foodies, House of Tippler have moved in to gastro territory with their tapas style sharers - go for the quail egg haddock scotch egg, the chef here knows his sh*t.   If like us you just can't get enough of this place, take a stroll down Lordship Lane on a Saturday afternoon and Tim will be out front selling homemade liqueurs (go for the spiced rum), pies and cakes. Hells yeah.
