BARCHICK SAYS

La Perla Paris has been around since 1988, which makes it practically ancient
in Paris bar years. The long, wooden bar takes pride of place next to a giant swordfish…yes, that’s what we said. There’s a kinda Mexican oceanic theme here, with pictures of mermaids and fishermen aplenty, and a tequila cupboard to die for.

Part of the same group as Café Pacifico and La Perla London, expect creations from all three, with info on the year and venue in which they were created. We spotted the Mexican 55 from Café Pacifico back in 1983 on the list (tequila blanco, lemon, sugar, Angostura bitters and Crémant de Bourgogne). We’re a fan of Durango too; created here in 2010, it’s basically a Margarita with grapefruit and a touch of agave syrup served up frozen - perfect for sunny days in Paris, perched on Perla’s outdoor seats while sharing a couple of ‘botanas’. La Perla Paris is an oldie but a goodie.

NB. These guys are big on happy hours; give them a call in advance if you want to hustle for the best bargains.
