Barchick Says
Who doesn’t feel a little smug while drinking cocktails looking out over probably the best stretch of London’s skyline? The OXO Tower bar may look like it was designed as the epitome of cool in the nineties, when we wanted everything to be minimal and a little space age (think cruise ship chic), but that totally doesn’t matter. In some cases it’s what’s on the outside that counts, and boy, it gives good views. Lounge on the terrace in the sunshine sloshing back wine or do the sophisticated thing by night at a table with cocktail in hand and St. Paul’s all lit up in the background.
Back to the cocktails. Run by Harvey Nichols, drinks have a British theme (Good Queen Bess, Hope & Glory, Honey Gogently, etc.) with distinct flavours – their take on an Old Fashioned smelt like maple syrup and popcorn, but was gasp-worthy strong.
Most importantly, it feels flash and they treat you like you’re flash, even if you’re not dressed up all fancy (oops). It’s a bit pricey, but it’s a South Bank icon for a special occasion. Reserve a table for front row seats of London from high.
