Brought to you from those dudes at D&D London, this is one helluva venue. With two restaurants, a bar and a wine shop, it’s the perfect excuse to miss your train outta Liverpool Street. We say hit the Old Bengal Bar, last place on the right, enter in through the courtyard and you’ll be greeted by their super friendly staff. Inside it’s pretty cool, with the east end staple brickwork galore and a back wall made up of mirrors (you’ll find the loo hidden behind them). Take a seat at the beautiful marble topped bar, with the jet black drinks cabinet lining the wall this place is more opium den than city boy bar.
Their cocktail menu is well worked and their impressive selection of Calvados and Armagnac is the perfect match if you’re tucking into their selection of cigars on the bar. We drank the Bobby De Niro with Sipsmith gin, Apricot brandy, fresh lemon juice, shaken with organic apricot jam and a touch of orange bitters which went down a treat, and if you’re peckish their Scotch eggs are awesome. Take it outside to the courtyard, come rain or shine, with its massive umbrellas and heaters you’ll be just fine.
Not for you? Well then try the wine bar – there are over 600 wines so sit back and work your way through a few with a plate of charcuterie. If you’re super starving then the New Street Grill is for you! Soak up more wine with a steak, or stick to the seaside styles and order some fresh fish.
