Barchick Says
Coffee hangout by day and cocktail joint by night, what used to be a mobile phone shop is now this round-as-a-pound bar right on Old Street roundabout. The stairs behind the bar lead up to the recording studio, we were told some pretty cool Australian bands have been recording there recently so groupies will be in heaven. The white washed brickwork, neon sign and cool staff make this a pretty hip hangout, plus it’s the perfect place to get your daily caffeine kick, or pastry fix before jumping on the tube/bus/bike/pogo stick.
Take a seat at one of the stools facing out and watch what seems like most of East London pass you by, day or night. The Cocktail list is short (soon to change) but our Shoreditch Grind Espresso Martini was perfect and go for the cheese platter to munch on, not your classic pairing, but we liked it. They also have a couple of Australian beers, wine and Prosecco should you want something a little more laid back. They stay open later at weekends so you can stick around a little longer and get a little wilder. There is also a wicked terrace just outside under the big tree, surprisingly romantic for somewhere so public!
