Further up from the ‘hip and happening’ and a little before the ‘rough and ready’ streets of Brixton, you’ll find a bar that takes cocktails to the next level. The Shrub & Shutter looks more like a mate’s kitchen with an island top and shelves filled with bottles, books, kitchen appliances, ingredients and herbs.

With loads of cocktails on their ever-changing menus as well as specials scribbled up on the blackboard, it’s obvious these guys like to experiment. Each is filled with unique flavours and crazy pairings. Don't be surprised to see ingredients like 'pink cookie', beef broth and even tzatziki crop up in the cocktails. Plus some of these bad boys come with snacks - BarChick's all about that whiskey based Deer Stalker with a garnish of seared venison. Bad ass. 

But don’t fill up on these bad boys too quick cos there’s also a restaurant out back serving up an ever-changing menu brought to you from the chef in residence of the moment. The place gets rammed and rightly so - book ahead and you won't be disappointed.
