When you wanna escape the madness of Soho, get a seat and a damn good drink, you need to get down here. We’ve been buying our booze from Milroy’s since forever, and London’s oldest whisky shop is rocking its own speakeasy neighbourhood cocktail bar in the basement. Martyn 'Simo' Simpson is in command here, so things not only look good but taste good, too.

Have a cruise around the shop (maybe even have a warm-up drink at their upstairs tasting bar?) and keep an eye out for the “bookshelf”.  Give it a nudge, get down the staircase and you’re one step closer to damn good drinks and easy vibes. The basement is a 55-seater cocktail bar; decked out with old chesterfields and bare brick walls. You’ve stumbled across one of Soho’s best secrets, with "date night" written all over it.

The crowd down here are into their cocktails, usually kicking back on the sofa or hiding out in the private vault that’s in the shape of a barrel. Book it out for a max of 12 mates and get the party started. Most importantly, the cocktails are banging. Last time BarChick went through the bookcase, she was all over the El Sevoir Escobar, made with mezcal, and the Japanese Rose Garden, made with Nikka From The Barrel... but the menu changes seasonally and the team really know their sh*t, so ask them for a rec and just go with the flow.
