Voodoo Ray's

BARCHICK SAYS

Who’s Ray? We don’t know either, but sure as hell we’d like to get our Voodoo on with him. This place has the décor of an empty swimming pool, all blue tiles and unpainted concrete. The open plan kitchen is a mix up of hot chefs and freshly cooked pizzas. Hit the counter at the end for the chilli and garlic oil or sit at the back on trestle tables or school chairs and brush shoulders with east end cool cats, couples on dates and, depending on the day/time, anyone waiting for the club downstairs to open.

The deal is you order and pay at the counter, take your pick of the spread of good looking slices go for the “Cabbage Patch Kid”  - savoy cabbage, bacon, tomato sauce and mozzarella (trust us!)). Their cocktails are simple but effective, a bit of Tequila and Ting, Rum and Gin or Campari and Soda. Their canned beers are the likes of Asahi, Hobo and Punk IPA (from the Brew Dog boys) but we went for the home made frozen Margaritas from the slushie machine. This place is effortlessly cool, good music, cute staff and a keepin-it-simple vibe to make it the almost perfect spot for a drink and a slice. We'll be back Ray.
