What’s black, white and chic all over? Yeah, Le Coq. If you’re all speak-easied out but still like your cocktails served with swag then this place will totes ruffle your feathers. With the founders of Paris’s Cocktail and Spirit Bar Show, Eric Fossard and Thierry Daniel, at the helm, bevs are bang on.
The vibe is 70s chic with emphasis on ‘chic’ not ‘70s’. Drawing inspiration from French drinks, perfume and literary traditions, the likes of Yves St Laurent, Jane Birkin and Marianne Faithful would feel right at home here.
When it comes to décor there’s little to be discussed - it’s dark and hip, baby. Let the alcohol to do the talking instead; think classics with a modern twist (69 Colebrooke Row's Tony C was originally behind the creations). We like the Amour Amer with Tequila Calle 23, Suze Mure & Byrrh or the Fizz à la Feuille de Figieur with Gin, Izarra, fig leaf syrup, lemon juice, and perrier. Delightful.
