St Pancras by Searcys Champagne Bar

St Pancras by Searcys Champagne Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

Epic champagne adventures await. No passport required.

Hard to imagine train travel as luxe when you've found yourself pit deep in a sweaty London rush-hour during a Southern Railway strike. Kings Cross St Pancras though... well, that station is like stepping into a romance movie from the age of decadence rather than into the first circle of Hell (Clapham Junction, we're looking at you). Iconic red brick walls and Tracy Emin artwork.  It's all a bit wow.  And it's given an extra dose of extravagance from Searcys with their super gorge Champagne Bar. That's something we can get on board with.

It's the longest champagne bar in Europe, and you don't need to be travelling to visit. You'll find BarChick perched in one of the banquettes stretching down the side of the Eurostar platform, mildly abusing the gold plated Push for Champagne button. Each table is set out like an Orient Express carriage; cosy leather booths, wooden side tables, polished copper lightboxes and frosted glass windows, all under that wrought iron glass-ceiling. Take a date; you'll look banging in that flattering natural light.

Champagne is the soup du jour. Order from their fizz list or crack on with a bubbly cocktail. BarChick got down with a summery Shade of Yellow; Sipsmith lemon drizzle gin & Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne. Beats a train tinny and a sad sandwich, amirite?
