BARCHICK SAYS

If Muji opened a bar in a Scandi style warehouse then this place would be it; creams, beige, metal bar stools and a hell of a lot of wood. Kinda industrial chic.

Being so minimal there’s not much to look at besides their extensive cocktail list which we think is genius. Trusted classics are on lockdown but BarChick was loving their twists (big up the Gingerbread Manhattan) and their original creations like The Borough Marketini (nice) with ginger, orange and coriander. Fresh. They’ve also got a killer wine list, craft beers and god-damned ‘hoppy hour’ where they’ve made awesome cocktails from local Bermondsey beers. Hell yeah! Want something a bit more fancy? The restaurant’s pretty legendary for its locally sourced everything and it's got hot dinner date written all over it.  By day the chilled vibe and sh*t hot service mean it’s also wicked for lunching with a client or just grabbing a little snack when you’re riding solo.

Friday and Saturday nights this is BarChick’s nightcap pit-stop on the way to a lie in ‘cos the bar keeps pouring the whiskies ’til 1.30am. Rolling with a crew? Book into the Lounge Bar, or even better blag the private dining room ’The Little Room’ that’s kinda like being in an old country house. If you’re a risk-taker it’s worth trying your luck because between the couple of bars, restaurant and sofas for you to kick back on, they’ll try to fit you in somewhere. Yes Village East.
