If like BarChick you love a good secret, or perhaps you just can’t get enough of the granny-chic teacup cocktails served at Bourne and Hollingsworth’s tiny basement bar, either way you’re in luck, cos they’ve decided to share the love and bring back their banging bar to you.
The Fourth Wall is named after the imaginary wall that separates the characters of a play from the audience, the bar’s theatre set-like concept is similar. Here’s the idea -
1. create exact replicas of the original bar’s floral walls, chintzy lamps, white table-cloths, chairs, curved oak bar and glassware.
2. set it up in a disused space for the weekend for drinks and DJ tunes.
3. when the show’s over, pack it all up into two vans, and move on to the next secret location
Cryptic clues to the bar’s secret location are emailed out a couple of days prior, modern day treasure hunt style, and the hunt is worth it, you’ll love the cutesy decor, and those B&H cocktails. BarChick liked the cockle-warming Honey Monkey with Whisky, honey and lemon juice, shaken and served in a teacup, and the Gatsby, Vodka, Pomegranate, Raspberries and Fizz.
When is easy: every Fri and Sat from 5pm until 1am, where is not so simple: first you got to get in touch by either phone or email here and then await the cryptic clues to the bar’s secret location a couple of days before kick-off. It’s a modern-day treasure hunt – not easy but that’s part of the fun.
