The Golden Anchor

BARCHICK SAYS

On the side of the road on the West Coast you won’t miss this multi-coloured shack with the jet-ski and boat out front. Brightly coloured with a garden out back, this place is run by an English lady called Karen and her rasta husband I-wayne, so it’s got some home touches like a pub quiz on Thursdays with questions by a guy from Plymouth… (sorry locals).

This place is open day and night, so there’s no excuse not to head down at some point on your trip. We hit Golden Anchor on Friday night, filled a table with Banks beers and got dancing to the live reggae. Banks are usually four for $10 but when there is entertainment on it’s three for $10, that’s a serious bargain right there.
Try and take a seat on the handmade lion thrones, BarChick loved those bad boys. If you’re hungry then tuck into some of their fresh fish and wedges. This is a cheap place that knows how to party and is a favourite with the locals, you’ll definitely be back.
