Tucked away in the Gothic Quarter, BarChick was en route to another bar when she stumbled across The Box, needless to say the other bar didn’t get a look in. This Box is our favourite kind of box because it’s full of rum – jars and jars of the stuff. Multi-coloured fairy lights in the windows catch your eye and pull you in, and old school cartoons (usually Betsy Boop / Donald Duck) keep you there. Corridor thin you won’t be swinging any cats in here, but why would you bother anyway with so much of the good stuff to work through.

The hot couple who own the place (Colombian chick / French dude) – spend months macerating rum in huge jars with loads of different ingredients. Banana, grapes, chocolate, lime… it’s all going on in those huge jars that line the back bar. BarChick’s favourite was the chilli and dark chocolate, one shot was definitely not enough. Not into your rum? They’ll make you whatever you fancy – Old Fashioneds, Mojitos, Sidecars – all were great tried and tested BarChick style.

Peckish? These guys make some mega king sized Colombian hot dogs and lashings of nachos from behind the bar. Do get these, they are damn good and will help to ease the rum head the following morning.
