BarChick found this place eight years ago when she lived in Firenze, and it’s as good now as it was then. The balcony is a people watchers’ wet dream and has a view of the Duomo, the most beautiful building in Florence, perhaps the world.

This place is a perfect pit stop for a refreshing fruity number to escape from the swathes of tourists and the summer heat. Bang in the centre of Florence in the Piazza San Giovanni, it’s right next to the magnificent Duomo. The best seats in the house are on the terrace – you can check out if they’re free from street level, and if so your afternoon is sorted. The cocktail menu is a little daunting so go for the pre-dinner section if you’re after a sundowner, though if you want something to put hairs on your chest try The Godfather - Scotch and Disaronno over ice.

The bar inside has a mariner feel, which makes the most of the thin galley-like interior, but it’s all about the terrace.
