One more to add to the list of Lebanese 'hypogeal' clubs, this is another bar which represents the underground scene, in both style and substance. Bringing a similar crowd to those who frequent Torino, Yukunkun is bigger but just as bare. Stone steps lead down to a stone floor, the open space only adorned by a few lonely pillars, presumably holding the building up, and a sofa lurking somewhere in the corner. However, what BarChick loves most about Yukunkun is the live music with local bands in front of swaying crowds, mostly off their heads, as they make full use of all the available space to show their support.

As Beirut's underground music scene starts to make waves, Yukunkun is a great new venue to add to the list, fast becoming one of the most popular places for gigs in the city. Expect lots of noise, just as much jumping up and down and a sore throat the next morning as you party Lebanese style!
