With a blood red and black paint job and a neon tavern sign, this tiny bar is doing a good job of hiding in plain sight. The crowd is a fun mix of hipsters, slightly aging punks and people waiting for a table at the uber cool Ox across the street, which makes Billy Rays feel a bit like a house party crossed with an arcade. They have vintage pinball machines, arcade tables and pool for those in the mood for some old school entertainment.

Beer is the way forward here. Choose from the rotating list with classics like PBR or some new school Oregon brew, and all of it is amazingly cheap. This is the dive bar you remember from days gone by, complete with the Misfits blaring though their speakers like it’s 2001.

NB. They only take cash, so be sure to bring the green stuff and ditch your plastic.
