Hotel du Vin and Bistro

BARCHICK SAYS

Tucked in just off one of the busy roads that runs through the town centre, lies the oasis of calm that is Hotel du Vin, which is one of the finest places to kip in this city. The entrance is a pretty arched courtyard, chuck a penny in the pond and take the green door to the right. Once inside it’s all stone floors with Persian carpets, painted brick walls, big leather sofas, arm chairs and a big brick work bar. The art on the walls is for sale so if you have cash to splash and one too many on your side you might find your bill a little bigger at the end of the night. The laid back individual hangout areas with leather sofas and chairs means you can enjoy pre supper drinks and after dinner nightcaps with little hassle.

BarChick took her usual seat at the bar and ordered in the Spiced Mojito with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, sugar syrup, fresh lime juice and mint leaves topped up with ginger beer. The smells from the bistro next door are pretty good and it’s worth the dollar if you’re hungry, the food is amazing - especially all that fresh fish!
