If you spot the bowler hat then you've found the right place. Ideally someone has booked, but either way ring the doorbell and as if arriving to some top secret house party, the door will open to this devious den of darkness. It’s all low lit and sexy, decorated with velvet curtains, small stools and intimate coves lined with the news of days gone by. Beaded chandeliers, bowler hats and little tincture bottles give you the feeling that you've stumbled on a place left back in time. If you’re lucky there'll be someone tinkling away on the piano in the hall and there's also a secret room to discover, just find the Jilly Cooper book (perfect if you're feeling naughty).

The drinks in here are some of the best in town, the combination of a creatively stocked bar and guys that know what they're doing mean that it's very hard to go wrong. Get stuck in, some come served in thermos flasks, some are for sharing and there's the option of light on the alcohol if that's your thing (it's not ours). We loved our Under The Clouds with Zacapa 23 Rum, salted pineapple syrup and coconut water stirred with orange bitters & infused with Pina Colada smoke.  The vegetable crisps and pork scratchings are both homemade. Boom.

With a combination of old soul and 20s and 30s smooth music playing in the background, we fell right in love with this place and had to be reminded it was closing time. Twice.
