Sex in the City can wait - we’ve got supper in the City on our minds, and for when this craving comes your way then Chiswell Street Dining Room has you covered. Located in East London near Barbican, it’s a prime watering hole for city-slickers, ladies who lunch, the Friday night dinner date crew and weekend feasting.
The vibe is ‘relaxed-sophistication’ - it’s not somewhere you’d come to get rowdy, but it’s also not a shirt-and-ties affair either. You won’t find white tablecloths, but you will be treated to the highest standard of service and rather excellent dishes that cater to full-on foodies with discerning tastes, as well as those who just want a bit of comfort food. Highlights include Scottish monkfish with Champagne & chive sauce, and Welsh lamb rump & Shepherd’s pie. Oh, and the slithers of deeply pink cured salmon melt in the mouth, given a pep from the gin & tonic jelly. Chisweel Street Dining Rooms also aren't shirking creativity with the cocktail menu - and even have a list of seven Martinis to get your night (or afternoon - no judgment) off to a flying start.
We all love a glow-up, and Chiswell Street recently got a sleek & chic refresh that’d make (x makeover??) give the thumbs up. Blonde wood floors are polished to a high shine, gleaming in the natural light that floods in through huge windows; lime upholstery lends a refreshing colour palette to the racing-green walls; and you can tell the artwork’s been carefully curated to give a cosy, ‘home from home’ ambience.
