Don't rule out the financial district, home to high-rolling Wall Street wolves, and also to one of the world’s best bars. Dead Rabbit is bringing the Irish Pub into the 21st century, and have managed to impress pretty much everyone who's walked across the threshold. BarChick no exception, naturally.
This 19th-century Irish tavern, named after an infamous gang from the same period, makes BarChick wanna rock out to Drop Kick Murphy's. With sawdust on the floor to absorb spilt Guinness, or blood from those drunken brawls (less of those these days), this place is legitimately rowdy in an Old New York way. Chuck back oysters with some ale, or dig into those Irish-American classics. The Irish coffees have become things of legend, and we dare you to stop at one.
This is our after-work spot of choice, and we don’t even work nearby. The back of the room, like a lot of Irish pubs in the old country, doubles up as a little grocery shop with one of those impressive old skool silver tills, kitsch. But upstairs is where the cocktails are at. A more civilized affair, this sumptuous little parlour has a masterpiece of a cocktail list manned by Sean Muldoon (The Merchant, Belfast) and Jack McGarry (ex Milk & Honey, London) plus epic table service from the lovely ladies in red. Whiskey is the name of the game in here and there's a shit load of it. Don't forget to check out the Dead Rabbit menus - they're works of art in their own right. Lads, you've done well.
