Like the name suggests, Jackal & Hide has a split personality: it can either be absolutely packed to the rafters and buzzing, or quiet, sophisticated and relaxed. On BarChick’s last visit we witnessed the latter, but we have it on good authority (and that doesn’t mean the barman/owner), that it gets heaving.
The cocktail list is nicely refined, and they have a good happy hour from 4pm to 7pm on weekdays, so hit it hard. The food is good and the mix of low tables, plunging sofas and wax-encrusted candle holders add to a sophisticated charm. With a busy schedule of live music, Jackal & Hide is ideal for a quiet drink, a decent meal or drinking too much and singing along to a band you've nearly heard before far too loudly. Their veranda also has awesome views.
