Rudie’s is Dalston’s token Jamaican den that not only boasts epic jerk chicken but also a seriously sick selection of rum. Drink in neat, drink it in a cocktail, drink it on FIRE (kinda) in their insane Katch a Fire... whatever you do, come expecting a little sunshine to light up your life, Carribean stylee.  

Start the night hitting the ‘Signatures’ or ‘Island Classics’ drink lists. There’s also a selection of wines and beers for those who can’t deal with the pungency of Jamaican rum; no judgement here. If the rum doesn’t warm you (it will), umber tones throughout the joint will do just that. It’s cool in here with vinyls, bottles of rum and hanging succulents to look at and sounds of lethargic Reggae and laid back Caribbean jams to listen to.

It’s far from your stock Dalston dive, this place isn’t trying to be too much of anything, yet it still delivers tenfold. Come hungry, it's all about the food. Forget small plates or anything pretentious and go with your gut - the portions are sizeable and the prices not bad. The staff also know their sh*t without being patronising, so ask away or eat like BarChick and go for some kinda jerk meat alongside Yardi goat curry. Boom.
