Sitting pretty in the saddle above The Running Horse, you’ll find The Whip. This pretty bar has got brilliant breeding, good conformation and it’s a real front runner when it comes to other boozers in the area.

The going is good with delicate lighting, a welcoming bar and chairs that beg to be mounted Line up amongst silks, trophies, whips and an almost life-size painting of a racehorse that watches proudly over the bar (for 80 grand he’s yours), and place your order. We say the Juleps are your safest bet, they’ve taken inspiration from The Kentucky Derby where 120,000 are drunk over a couple of days - now there’s a challenge. Served in traditional pewter tins, bury your nose deep in the mint and drink down that cool bourbon goodness, then move onto the other runners, they’re all favourites in our eyes.
