The Black Cat at El Gato Negro

BARCHICK SAYS

The Black Cat has rolled in the crowds (and awards) since it first opened up shop in the northern village of Ripponden back in 2005. So last year owner Simon Shaw bought the action from the middle of nowhere, to central Manchester, opening up an epic three-story tapas and cocktail haven, in a converted historic townhouse.

Downstairs you’ll find those legendary tapas plates, or if you’re all in for the booze, head upstairs to the Black Cat cocktail lounge for awesome city views and a killer drinks’ menu. The cocktails, with a sexy Spanish twist, have started to get this place seriously known.

If you’re planning to eat, make sure you book – well ahead. This place gets full quickly. Don’t be that mug at the back of the queue – be the smug one inside, diving headfirst into the Patatas bravas with spicy tomato fritarda sauce.
