With all the spicy rooftop bars to visit, Nest is a little vanilla. But after a long night out on the relentless Soi 11, it can be just the tonic. And with a protective awning for the wet season, it works in any weather.

The outdoor space is divided into sections either fenced off with foliage or on raised platforms. There are brightly coloured chairs and cushions, cabanas set in sand, a patch of grass and fancy lighting. It’s all a bit Club Tropicana, just without the sea. Take your pick from wicker day beds to curtained basket seats (though best book these in advance), and chill the hell out.

The bar takes particular pride in offering seasonal cocktails using the freshest fruit, and you really do notice in the Spicy Mango Margarita. One of our favourites on the very detailed menu is the Coromandel Sour, a mix of New Zealand Feijoa Vodka, Paraiso lychee liqueur and fresh basil. There’s also tasty Thai bar snacks.
