Nightjar was one of the bars that lead the resurgence of the speakeasy in London, and now we're being treated to the second instalment of this award-winning drinking den.
Just like its Shoreditch original, this 85-seater art-deco style bar and music venue can be found in a basement, this time under the cobbles of Kingly Court at the top of Soho. Follow the wide staircase down into Carnaby's underbelly, check yourself out in one of the Lalique style mirrors on the walls, and get yourself cosy in one of the booths facing a centre stage. There aren't many cocktail bars in London that can say their venue played host to the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who in a previous life, but Nightjar Carnaby can, and if you're into your 20's jazz and 70's funk, the music programme they're running here isn't one that'll disappoint.
You can't open a second Nightjar and not bring with it the sense of the theatrical regulars like us know it for, so they've kept the menu over here comparable to the OG. Expect the same wildly inventive cocktails served in extraordinary glassware, and menu categories split into Pre-Prohibition, Prohibition and Post-War. But if you wanna see what this new Carnaby crew are really all about, hit the Nightjar Signature section for something a little different to how they're doing things by the Old Street roundabout. Nightjar might have been kicking around for over 11 years, but you don't know the half of it yet.
