Sitting on the fringes of Christie Pits/Koreatown, Northwood is that anytime-of-day-or-night establishment that this area was lacking for ages. This tiny, friendly, neighbourhood bar has got that Ossington strip vibe going for it, while being low-key and cosy.

Open from 11am, we come for our cold brew coffee at breakfast with laptop in hand to our cocktail o’clock (happy hour is 5pm to 7pm every night). On a Friday, just moments after six, it’s already packed with late-20s to mid-30s folk, though this isn’t a wild party place; music is at the right volume for conversation while having good time vibes.

With ten cocktails on their menu and an impressive craft beer list (though overpriced), we like the Lady Grey Sour, with Earl Grey rye (big yes from us!), lemon and pepper - it makes our lips tingle and is easy to knock back, like, six, though who was counting.
