A bar on a beach is always a winner and The Grand is no exception. Where better for a bar than in an old airplane bunker? With huge tables for you to sit at and a nice long bar ready for whatever drinks you could wish for. Obviously we suggest you sit out on the sand, with huge umbrellas for those who like shade, or benches and sunbeds nearer the sea for sun worshippers like BarChick.
The cocktails here are bright, sweet and fluffy so if you like that sorta thing then tuck in, there’s always time for a Frozen Margarita in our eyes. Otherwise stick to the beer and wine (they have a Heineken bar outside as well as a wine bar). Take in the view and get some food in. The pizzas here are some of the best BarChick has ever tasted and coming from her that’s saying something! Long rectangular ones perfect for sharing are served on huge wooden slates, get a couple in for a gang of you and get involved with the pure garlic dip (makes Pizza Express’ garlic butter taste pitiful!).
If things are busy and there are kids about then head over to the ‘adult’s area’ this isn’t as X-rated as it might sound, just a nice place with padded mattresses and beanbags for you to relax n roll about on. This area is great when the sun has gone down and the wind has picked up, get comfy and chill. It’s table service (or cushion service in this case) and it all looks very pretty with the moon out and fairy lights all around… the perfect summer hang out.
