Who are you and what do you do? Tell us about yourself…

I am Helena Nicklin: a wine and spirits fiend who presents and writes and a lot about booze. Most recently, I’ve been working with The Three Drinkers do bring whisky to the people on our Amazon prime show. I also present a lot of live events and judge drinks competitions. 

What’s the best thing about your job?  

Travelling to beautiful places and drinking epic wine and spirits. It’s even better now that I get to do it with my great mates. Drinks are meant to be shared! 

You can teleport to any bar in the world, where are you going?

The Dead Rabbit, Grocery and Grog in New York. 

Where’s your favourite city for bar-hopping?

For me, London. The offering we have right now is so exciting. Rome is fun too, but doesn’t quite have the range of drinks London has. 

What’s your idea of a party? 

Good friends, good food, good drinks, a great view and some live music so we can dance the night away.

Who in the industry would you love to rock up to the bar next to you?

Someone who could help pay the inevitably massive bill we’d rack up! Ah, there are. So many people I’d happily chat to all night in the industry. Ruth Spivey, Anne Krebiehl, Richard Hemming, Richard Paterson…

What is your desert island bottle? 

Romanée-Conti Echezeaux 1990 

What’s your failsafe cocktail?

A Mac-Hattan. I sort of invented it for our show, but I love it! Equal parts red vermouth, Cointreau and Macallan 12.

What is your hangover cure? 

A tonne of water while you’re drinking and a Berocca first thing. If it’s really bad, maybe a sachet of Dioralyte!
