Breakfast, lunch, dinner - Dishoom has our heart at any time of day. Their Irani-cafe street food and sexy cocktails have had us happily queuing on many occasions. The Kensington branch is one of our faves - channeling 1930s jazz-age Bombay, it’s a stunner. Don’t worry about the wait for a table, half the fun is perching at the low-lit bar or ‘the shelf’ with a cocktail waiting to take your table in the main room. 

From the red and turquoise booths, Art Deco chandeliers and massive retro clock face, this is BarChick’s kinda place. It’s totally buzzing. Check to see when the jazz band is playing live. It pops off, and we’re the first to get up on the table for a dance.

Cocktails here complement the Bombay-inspired dishes perfectly. Biryani with an East India Gimlet? Ideal. Keeping it booze-free? Dishoom is winning when it comes to ‘Dry tipples’. We’ve never had a better non-alcoholic Old Fashioned anywhere. Woody and sweet from smoked demerara, orange bitters and applewood, we legit thought there was booze in it. Their Dry Monsoon Martini is also a hit. Sober sisters (and sirs) unite.
