Plan ahead for this bad boy speakeasy in Amsterdam’s Albert Cuypstraat market area. Hit the Butcher’s website and email with your request for entry, if your lucks in they’ll get back to you with the password. It changes daily so blagging it isn’t an option either, soz.

Speakeasy aside, burgers at The Butcher are the best in town. Mutter the magic word and you will be escorted from burger joint to meat locker door where the madness begins; a long oval bar, an open fireplace, a few sofas in the back. The drinks menu is divided into four categories: Old Fashioneds, ginger beer mixes, sours and G&Ts. There is also a page named Butcher Concoctions with The Cleaver, The Blind Pig and The Screw You Driver, made with 96% vodka, damn.

Service is slick and attentive and the bartenders put on a nice show. Bar food runs the gamut from salt and pepper squid to burgers and home-made chips, you can't pick a bad dish here.
