Above Eleven is the capital’s shiny new hangout. BarChick can’t get enough of the views from this 38th floor bar, the entirety of Bangkok’s burgeoning skyline is pretty much yours to take in, and it’s a beauty.
There are all sorts of oddities here to keep you entertained, the maze en-route to the bathroom is one of them. The owner grew up in Thailand but has a thang for New York’s Central Park where he went to school. Look up – you’ll see grass all over the ceiling - don’t worry, you’re not tripping, you’re just high (38 floors so, geddit?).
Get stuck into the menu here, it’s pretty bilingual. Peruvian ceviche, Japanese, Chinese and Italian influences all feature here, so you won’t get bored. Perch on the high-stools around the bar, next to the dudes who know what they’re eating and either ask questions or follow their lead.
You’ll find the cocktails under the heading ‘fun stuff’, touché. Drink the Zakura (42BELOW Vodka, fresh ginger, orange and lime juice and pomegranate syrup) or the Togatta Stiletto (sake, prosecco and passion fruit purée) BarChick’s (brave) hot-date ordered straight sambuca and proceeded to guzzle it straight from a wine glass, needless to say he got a second date.
