Perched on the 63rd floor of the Lebua State Tower Hotel, a whopping 200m off the ground, unsurprisingly this place has great views. The fact that it’s attached to Sirocco, the world’s largest open-air restaurant, makes this the most famous rooftop in town.
They call it the ‘Senses’ series, we call it a cocktail menu, but what evs, the drinks are good. The Hangovertini is Sky Bar’s signature cocktail – legend has it Ron mixed it for The Hangover’s cast and crew when they filmed here. Made from green tea, Martini Rosso, apple juice and rosemary-infused honey, it’s a corker.
Sky Bar’s status means you need to get clever on timing, unless you enjoy jostling with 50 other Farangs and their huge SLRs for a good view. On a suspended high altitude platform, the circular bar is flashy, literally, changing from pink to blue in slow motion. It’s a bit barren on the character front, but the drinks and the views are good. We say, hit it up at opening hour for a quickie and then head on elsewhere.
NB. There is a dress code, which can be basically translated to no backpackers.
