We reckon anywhere you have to push past a huge black velvet curtain to enter has gotta be hiding something good, and when it came to Iron Fairies we were totally right.
Wind down the wrought iron staircase, and lose yourself in this dark, glittery, cavernous den of madness. Tiny pots of fairy dust line the walls, little iron figurines are scattered on the bar and a cloaked lady wanders from table to table singing the blues and generally making things feel magical. It’s like a wizard’s den for the discerning drinker, though actually by day it’s a bona fide blacksmith where local craftsman make and sell many of the things you see around you.
It can be hard to find a seat, so get some friends together and book one of the private sections in the tucked away crevices that are a complete mystery to find (or escape from).
The cocktail menu reads like a spell book of potions, and we’re pretty sure whatever absinthe creation we drank gave us wings. They also do a mighty, fabulous burger too, which makes a welcome change from all the noodles.
