A Charlie Chaplin themed bar may seem a little out of place in Beirut, but Chaplin's manages to pull it off, as is often the case in this crazy city when something shouldn't work it generally does (and vice versa). There's a hat stand in the corner, with a token bowler hat and a solitary can resting next to it, and it's filled with other antiques, including an original typewriter, to set the scene along with Chaplin quotations scrawled upon all the walls.

However, what makes this place so great (and popular) is the overly welcoming bar staff (you'll do well to leave this place still standing, let alone sober) as, for the regulars at least, each drink seems to be accompanied a load of free shots… go team! Along with 70% happy hour from 6pm to 9pm every day, there's great music which, thanks to a slightly inattentive DJ (he's probably at the bar doing shots) is often supplied by the whims of the customers as they choose their own favourite tracks! Just don't go here expecting to stay for 'one or two...' famous last words.
