Burnt Orange comes from the foodie stalwarts behind The Coal Shed and The Salt Room, and is a proper 'grown-up, late-night hangout' with wicked food and some very tempting drink options. It toes the line between ‘comfortable neighbourhood restaurant’ and ‘something that little bit special'. A combo that is so popular it meant the joint was packed wall-to-wall with thirsty punters when BarChick visited. Those walls are, incidentally, a cosy burnt orange colour that gives the place a warm, Mediterranean vibe. Now the name makes sense.
The food menu changes monthly depending on what's seasonal, but for maximum enjoyment, we say hit up the Burnt Orange Experience. It’s ridiculously good value and gives you a tour of the epic treats available. Obviously, we started the night at the bar, kicking the night off with the perfect aperitif: a Burnt Orange Martini. Crisp, cold and with a smidge of citrus sweetness to cut through the booze, it’s a must-try. We ended the night sipping a Dark Russian (Black Cow Vodka, Frangelico, Mr Blacks Coffee & Cinnamon) under twinkling fairy lights in the leafy garden, making friends with the next table. Oh, and you know the playlist that's making you wiggle your shoulders? It was curated by none other than the owner's friend, Fatboy Slim. Epic or what?
