Above the excellent Royale Eatery – which serves some of the best burgers in the city – The Waiting Room feels like a New York Loft party. You climb up a rickety, narrow set of stairs to enter into what looks like a well-furnished, open plan living room with a tiny bar in the corner. Up another set of stairs is a roof terrace strewn with fairy lights and views of the mountain and other people’s bedrooms. Party time.
The atmosphere is decidedly unpretentious, and as it’s on Long Street there are plenty of options for going on to afterwards. The crowd is predominantly media-orientated, which somehow feels apt for the look and feel of the place, and the fact that it is almost hidden definitely makes you feel like you’ve been let in on a secret.
