Magical Mexican food & mezcal in Marylebone

Mexican chef Adriana Cavita, whose CV reads like a highlight reel of the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, has opened her first solo project in London. She's named it after herself (YES GIRL), and it encompasses food traditions from all over Mexico - from the capital, where she was born, to Oaxaca and the Yucatán.

You'll find this earth-toned 70-cover restaurant in Marylebone Village, with an open-fire kitchen in the core, reclaimed wooden tables for couples and communal dining at the chef's table. Adriana learned her skills from her grandma, who bossed selling antojitos from a roadside stall in Ixtapaluca, so expect the dishes to reflect those wholesome street-food vibes, like baja fish tacos and ‘pastor’ presa ibérica. Not sure what to order? The incredibly friendly staff are ready to take charge with some recs, and they might just convince you to book a flight to Mexico in the process by regaling you with tales of where each dish came from.

Naturally, Mexican spirits are big here. They've got an epic collection of mezcals and tequilas, as well as Mexican whisky, gin and more. The wine and beer lists are killer too. But the thing that's really got our hearts racing? It's gotta be Mayahuel, the dedicated mezcal bar that's hidden in the basement. Splash out with a full-on evening that starts with cocktails in Mayahuel and ends upstairs in Cavita with some of the best Mexican food London has to offer.
